Frequently asked questions
Booking directly often means you are only seeing what the owner wants you to see. As an independent concierge, I don't "own" the boats—I vet them. I know which crews are the most professional, which vessels are meticulously maintained, and which ones have the best safety equipment.
My job is to ensure you don't end up on a "budget" boat that sacrifices your comfort or safety for a lower price or with a crew you will not like.
I also protect you from some cheap "luxury operators" who don't deliver on the Quality side.
Best of All? My service is free to you. Charters operators pay me a commission for bringing them your business.
Yes. One of the biggest "traps" in the charter industry is the use of years-old stock photos. Or even photos of non-existing boats as one of the oldest charter companies here does.
I am on the docks every day. I manage the largest and only boatyard in Aruba. I know exactly what the boats looks like today, not five years ago. If a boat’s upholstery is fading or a crew is slipping, they are removed from my recommended list immediately. I also know which ones never come for maintenance. You will never charter one of those through me.
My focus is on the highest standards of luxury and safety. Recent incidents in Aruban waters have shown that some fishing vessels operate far offshore without adequate emergency equipment, such as life rafts or advanced satellite beacons.
The Caribbean Sea is one of the roughest in the world, with almost permanent high winds and tough seas. With 60 years of sailing experience throughout the world, I know that you don't go out without being sure that you can come back whatever happens.
To ensure my clients’ peace of mind, I only work with leisure and luxury charters that meet my strict 2026 safety benchmarks.
And stay close to shore, sheltered by the island, with a calm sea.
• The Red Flag: A boat that is priced 30-40% lower than comparable vessels.
• The Reality: These owners often cut corners on safety equipment, engine maintenance, or—most commonly—crew quality. You aren’t saving money; you’re sacrificing your safety and the "vibe" of your day.
• My role, as the only Concierge dedicated to charter boats in Aruba is to protect you against them.
• The Red Flag: The website only shows photos of the boat from 5 years ago (or worse, professional catalog photos of a brand-new boat that isn't actually theirs).
• The Reality: Without a concierge to verify the current condition, you might show up to a vessel with rusted railings, faded upholstery, and a smell that wasn't in the brochure.
